Full Description
Italy has many beautiful ski touring areas that offer fantastic skiing, hospitable family run hotels, amazing Italian food and wine, great value. You can choose the destination or we can suggest the best location based on the best conditions at the moment. Val Maira in the Italian Maritime Alps and the Aosta Valley are areas that you can not miss.
VAL MAIRA
Until a few years ago no one had heard about these valleys that border with the French Maritime Alps. When Bruno Rosano, a local ski touring enthusiast, wrote a book about the area, the outside world discovered this magical hidden place. Don't expect ski lifts, ski slopes or après-ski pubs! Instead, you will have over 130 ski touring itineraries to discover combined with superb Italian food, wine and hospitality. Technically Val Maira is in the Italian region of Piemonte (Piedmont), home to great cuisine tradition and world class wines such as Nebbiolo, Barbaresco and Barolo.
AOSTA VALLEY
A new ski touring book by Versante Sud has just been pubblished for this region. Rutor the mountain which overlooks the valley of La Thuile and Valgrisenche, a true skimountaineering mecca. Gran Paradiso area which includes the three valley of Rhêmes, Valsavarenche and Cogne. Wild valleys with interesting loop itineraries which are made possible even thanks to the various mountain huts which are open during the spring season. Monte Rosa area, a necessary stop for those who love and appreciate four thousand metre peaks. Coumba Freida sector, a true gem with ascents and descents for all levels in the valleys of Valpelline and the Great Saint Bernard valley. You can stay in Aosta in the main valley, a city rich with Roman history, fantastic hospitality, amazing local food and wine or in one of the side valleys in one of its many family run bed and breakfasts.

Ski touring in the Italian Alps Reviews
Aosta Valley ski touring
"We stayed in Aosta, a delightful city, and our guide took us to a ski tour in a different valley every day. It was so much fun to explore this beautiful part of Italy and to learn about its history, culture and nature. The skiing was awesome, great snow, very few people and astounding views."
